Guest Groups are independently organized groups, for instance meditation or Buddhist groups that use Austin Zen Center's space or facilities for regularly scheduled meetings. Guest groups meet the following criteria:

• Their mission is compatible with that of the Austin Zen Center.
• They observe the house rules at Austin Zen Center. These include:
  • No alcohol or meat to be consumed at AZC.
  • In general no music or excessive noise, except with special permission.
  • No activity after 9:00 pm. This time may be extended on weekends or holidays with special permission. In general, though, all participants should be out of the building by this time.
• They should attempt to make a financial contribution to Austin Zen Center for use of the space. This might take the form of:
  • A fixed-rate rental of the space, generally $35/hr. for the zendo or $25/hr for the classroom in the Annex.
  • Collection of dana from participants on behalf of Austin Zen Center. It is understood that small groups or groups that are getting started may fall short of the price of straight rental. However we ask that an attempt be made to support the upkeep of the Zen Center with the development of a sense of belonging and ownereship.
