Peace Actions

Since September 11, 2001 peace and reconciliation have been major foci of the BPF. This includes efforts to end the cycle of violence and retribution and to protect American Muslims from hate.

Death Penalty Vigils

As part of the Abolish the Death Penalty Vigils sponsored by the Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty a group often sits on days of a scheduled executions for silent meditation, bearing witness from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the Lavaca side of the Governor's mansion in central Austin.

Adopt-a-Minefield Campaign

The Austin Adopt-A-Minefield Campaign is a 4-month project of the local chapter of the United Nations Association of the United States. The campaign, a global citizens' effort, gives safe communities like ours the opportunity to help endangered sister communities rid themselves of landmines. As part of this effor BPF-Hillcountry is cosponsoring a silent walking meditation to witness, the suffering caused by senseless war and hidden landmines.
